Routine Foot Care

Taking good care of your feet helps keep you comfortable, active, and doing the things you love. Whether you have trouble reaching your feet, thick or difficult toenails, or painful hard skin, regular podiatry care can make a big difference to how your feet feel every day.

What’s Included in Routine Foot Care

During your appointment, our podiatrist will:

  • Trim and file your toenails safely and comfortably
  • Reduce any thickened or ingrown nails
  • Remove hard skin, calluses, or corns
  • Check for signs of infection or other foot problems
  • Offer personalised advice on keeping your feet healthy at home

Your appointment is gentle, professional, and tailored to your needs.

We’ll start by asking a few questions about your foot health and any concerns you may have. Treatment is carried out carefully and comfortably — most people find their feet feel lighter, smoother, and much more comfortable afterwards.

Nail Surgery

Sometimes, a problem toenail — especially an ingrown or repeatedly infected one — needs more than routine care to keep it healthy and pain-free. Nail surgery is a safe and effective procedure that provides long-term relief from painful nail conditions.

What’s Involved in Nail Surgery

During your appointment, our experienced podiatrist will:

  • Assess your nail and discuss your treatment options
  • Administer a local anaesthetic to numb the toe (so you won’t feel any pain)
  • Carefully remove either part of the nail (partial nail avulsion) or, if necessary, the whole nail (total nail avulsion)
  • Apply a chemical to prevent the problem area of the nail from growing back (if appropriate)
  • Dress the toe and provide clear aftercare instructions

The procedure is quick and carried out in a clean, comfortable clinical setting.

Diabetic Foot Checks

If you’re living with diabetes, caring for your feet is an important part of looking after your overall health. Diabetes can sometimes affect your circulation and nerve feeling, making it easier for small problems to go unnoticed. Regular foot checks help keep your feet healthy and catch any issues early — before they turn into something more serious.

What’s Involved in a Diabetic Foot Check

During your visit, our friendly podiatrist will:

  • Check the blood flow and circulation in your feet
  • Test the feeling and nerve response
  • Look for any changes to your skin, nails, or foot shape
  • Check for any areas of pressure, callus, or signs of infection
  • Offer practical advice about footwear and daily foot care

Your appointment is relaxed, gentle, and completely pain-free.

We’ll take the time to explain what we’re doing and answer any questions you may have. If we notice anything that needs attention, we’ll talk you through the next steps and how to manage it. Our goal is to help you feel confident and supported in caring for your feet.

Fungal Nail Treatment

Fungal nail infections are a common problem that can cause your toenails to become thickened, discoloured, brittle, or crumbly. While they’re not usually serious, they can be uncomfortable and sometimes affect confidence — especially when wearing open shoes. The good news is that fungal nails can be treated effectively with the right care and ongoing management.

What’s Involved in a Fungal Nail Treatment

During your appointment, our podiatrist will:

  • Examine and assess the affected nails
  • Gently reduce nail thickness and remove damaged areas
  • Clean and tidy the nail to improve comfort and appearance
  • Discuss treatment options, such as topical or oral antifungal treatments and fenestration
  • Provide advice on how to care for your feet and prevent the infection from coming back

In some cases, we may recommend nail sampling or testing to confirm the presence of a fungal infection before starting specific treatment.

Biomechanical Assessment

If you experience pain in your feet, ankles, knees, hips, or back, it may be linked to the way your feet and legs move when you walk or stand. A biomechanical assessment helps us understand how your body moves, so we can identify any issues with alignment, balance, or movement that might be causing discomfort.

What’s Involved in a Biomechanical Assessment

During your appointment, our podiatrist will:

  • Take a detailed history of your symptoms and lifestyle
  • Examine your feet, legs, and posture while standing, and walking.
  • Assess your joint movement, muscle strength, and flexibility
  • Analyse how your feet and lower limbs move and bear weight
  • Discuss possible treatment options, which may include exercises, footwear advice, or custom orthotics

Your biomechanical assessment is thorough but relaxed.

We’ll explain each step clearly and make sure you feel comfortable throughout. You may be asked to walk or perform simple movements while we observe how your feet and legs function. Once the assessment is complete, we’ll talk you through our findings and create a treatment plan that’s tailored to your needs and goals.

Verruca Treatment

Verrucas are small, often uncomfortable growths that appear on the soles of the feet. They’re caused by a common virus (the human papillomavirus, or HPV) and can sometimes be painful, especially when standing or walking. Although verrucas often clear on their own, some can be stubborn and may need professional treatment to help them heal faster and prevent spreading.

What’s Involved in your Verruca Treatment

During your appointment, our podiatrist will:

  • Examine your foot and confirm that the lesion is a verruca
  • Discuss the different treatment options available
  • Treat the verruca using the most suitable method for you — this may include debridement (removing hard skin), application of topical treatments, or other specialist therapies
  • Provide advice on how to care for your foot between appointments and prevent the verruca from spreading
